| My cement castings, inspired
by the magnificent fossils in the world, are a new and
exciting venture. Coming from a photographic background,
capturing the clear image of an object is natural to
me. And it's wonderful to feel the actual shape and
texture of that object in a life sized representation.
I primarily use wet-land plants growing along the shore
by Lake Washingtons' Seward Park. These glorious, common
plants seem like slender sculptures, moving in the lightest
breeze, bending and springing up again. I have photographed
them for years, and they seem perfect for making my
contemporary 'fossils'.
I hope to share a sense of wonder with these works.
