| I was born and raised in
Seattle, later traveling and living various places nationally
and internationally. For the last 20 years I have been
residing here in Columbia City.
About 25 years ago I began working with clay. Now as
I continue developing my ceramic sculptures, I landscape
gardens as well. Both of these forms of art influence
each other. The sculptures reflect my love of nature
and travel.
All pieces are low-fire (2000 F) with various surface
treatments ranging from sawdust firing (the whale) to
glazes and underglazes. Most are designed to be in the
garden, on a deck or patio, but most are also happy
indoors. In fact most should be inside during the cold
winter months.
Some of my ceramic pieces have a painterly surface
treatment which I love doing and recently this interest
has moved to canvas, wood, and mosaics. Yes, now I am
painting pictures. My sculptures and paintings should
be considered as indoor or outdoor art.
